Lane Tech veterans who gave their lives were honored. All their names were read and a wreaths were placed at various
locations in the garden designating various conflicts or wars.
Bronze statue,
created by sculptor John Szaton, depicts a Native American warrior shooting an arrow into the sky. It symbolically urges students
to set their sights on lofty goals.

Shooting-the-Stars Statue was re-dedicated.
A plaque at the statue’s base states: “In
reverent tribute to those Lanites who gave the last full measure of devotion for justice, and the American way of life, this
memorial is solemnly dedicated.”
